Our Mission
The Mission of the Elgin Juneteenth Organization is to educate people of all races about the significance of unity and understanding in the community. As a community, we celebrate America’s 1st Independence Day and the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862 — hence, we also celebrate America’s 2nd Independence Day, Juneteenth!
